Creamy Tomato Orzo with Ground Beef

An easy skillet recipe made with ground beef and orzo, in a rich & creamy tomato sauce.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1/2 cup onion (finely chopped)
  • 1/4 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 tsp granulated garlic
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1 cup orzo
  • 1 tbsp tomato paste
  • 3/4 cup chicken stock
  • 1/2 cup tomato sauce
  • 1 8 oz can petit diced tomatoes
  • 3 tbsp heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup parmesan cheese

Instructions

  • To a skillet on medium heat, add 1 tbsp of olive oil. Add ground beef to pan, and sauté until beef develops brown crust.
  • Add chopped onion to beef, and continue to stir until onion is translucent. Add tomato paste, and seasonings. Stir until fully incorporated. Add orzo and sauté until orzo has a slight toast.
  • Reduce heat to low, add in chicken stock, tomato sauce, and tomato paste. Stir to combine. Add lid to pan and allow to lightly simmer until orzo is fully cooked and has absorbed most of the liquid.
  • Remove lid, add in heavy cream and parmesan cheese. Stir to combine. Allow to sit and absorb for 5 minutes. Serve & enjoy.
