Three Minute Skinny Caesar Dressing! – A super easy and flavorful caesar dressing that won’t chub you up! Made with simple ingredients, you will never miss the full fat version!
Who doesn’t love a really good Caesar Salad?! It’s one of our faves. But the dressing can be a hassle. Raw egg. A can of oily anchovies. Short shelf life. Sure, there is the store bought stuff, but it lacks the fresh flavor of homemade, not to mention pricy and fattening. But here I am to save your Caesar day!
No egg, no oily can of fish, low calorie, big flavored dressing!
I posted this recipe years ago, and it is still a family favorite. It was time for a recipe up-do! It’s the same recipe, I just increased the yield. More is better!
Why is this 3 Minute Caesar Dressing a skinny recipe? Only 2 tablespoons of olive oil and 52 calories a serving. Can I get a whoo hoo!
So lets talk about anchovies. I know you think you don’t like them…but if you like Caesar dressing than you like anchovies. Anchovy flavor is what made you fall in love with the dressing in the first place! If you leave out the anchovies, it will still be good, but it will not be Caesar. It will be Lemon Dijon Vinaigrette.
Cooking with anchovies can be really easy by using the paste instead of the tin of oily fish. You can find it right by the canned anchovy. It comes in a tube. I use Napolean brand but I am sure any will do. It has a long shelf life and you will be sure to have it on hand for many many batches of this tasty dressing. Trust me, you are going to make this a lot!
I use a blender to mix this up but a wire whisk will work just as good. Just mince your garlic very fine if hand whisking. I have a Magic Bullet Blender . I am not big on gadgets, I don’t even own a full size food processor, but I love this blender! It’s small, powerful, and super easy to clean.
The dijon is a natural emulsifier and holds this yummy concoction together. It won’t separate…not even after sitting in your fridge for a few days.
This will keep in your refrigerator for about a week. Like me, it gets better as it ages :).

Thank you so much for sharing this recipe. I used actual anchovies instead of the paste ( I did use my food processor) and it came out delicious. My hubby who is not a fan of Greek yogurt as a substitute for sour cream, loved it too.

This recipe was awesome. But I’ll never make it again. I could have gone the rest of my life never seeing what anchovy paste looks or smells like, and never knowing that it was a staple ingredient in my beloved caesar salad dressing, and that all would have been fantastic. 🤢😂 Only joking a little… My husband heard me gagging from the kitchen, so he refused to even try it when I was done. My twelve-year-old ran into his room afraid he was next. Also, it’s EXPENSIVE. I doubled the recipe, and my $8 tube wasn’t even enough. I was a tablespoon shy, so I added more Worcestershire sauce. The flavor didn’t seem to suffer. Which makes me wonder if I can make a version with just worcestershire, and skip the paste? Has anyone tried this?
Awesome recipe! I’ll never make it again, but thanks for the experience! LOL

Jessie – your note had Rachel and I cracking up! Who gives 5 stars to a recipe that makes them gag? LOL! We love ya for it…sorry you don’t like anchovies and yes, you can make the dressing and omit. It will taste more like a tangy dijon vinaigrette but still very good!

Yum!! I added a couple more cloves of garlic, just because we love it so much but the rest as written and it’s fabulous!! 2% Fage. Going to make salad with bay shrimp and also use as a veggie dip. Only a couple WW points, too. Thanks ladies!!

So glad you liked it Kelli! Thank you so much for the nice note!

Sounds wonderful. I will making this after my next shopping trip. Anchovy paste is not a staple for me! lol

I just whipped a batch of this up. It’s delicious (tastes like any great Cesar dressing from a restaurant). It took maybe 4 minutes total to put together. I hate fish of all kinds but I added the anchovy paste, it is absolutely necessary in this recipe. I highly recommend. I followed recipe exactly and would change nothing.

Very good. A little too much lemon juice
It overwhelms all other tastes. Thank you!
Also good dip for fresh veggies!
Debbie says
If using anchovies from a tin how many in place of the paste?
Kathi & Rachel says
Hi Debbie – 1/2 teaspoon anchovy paste equals 1 anchovy fillet.
Deb J says
This is unbelievably good. I’m vegetarian so I skipped the anchovy paste and used a little extra organic Worcestershire sauce (the organic stuff doesn’t have anchovies either). I added a dash of onion powder and used Fage 2% yogurt. Even my husband, Mr. I-Don’t-Like-New-Foods, remarked multiple times how good this was. One batch was more than enough for 6 hearty servings of salad.

So glad you liked it! I make it on a regular basis…my fave salad dressing!

So glad you loved it! I am turning it into a Chicken Pasta Salad this week…stay tuned for that recipe! Thank you for the nice comment!

This is the best Ceasar dressing I have ever had! Even my kids wanted to eat salad after I made them try this salad dressing. They put the bottle of Ranch back in the fridge! I was whipping this up just before dinner and couldn’t leave to pick up some anchovy paste. After some quick research I did the following instead: 1 Tbsp of Worcestershire sauce (instead of 1 tsp) and 1 Tbsp + 1 tsp of Bragg Liquid Aminos (instead of anchovy paste). The increased Worcestershire brings some more fishy flavour and the addition of Liquid Aminos brings in the saltiness that the anchovy paste would have added.
It tastes amazing and seems like Ceasar to me! Maybe I’ll try it with anchovy paste another time to see the difference. But the substitution helped me out in a bind!
Thank you for sharing this awesome recipe! I’m sending it over to my mom right now;)
