Creamy Pasta with Tomato Cream Sauce comes together so quickly.  Comforting pasta dish made with simple ingredients.   Easy enough for weeknights but perfect for company dinner with it’s restaurant quality taste.

Tomato Pasta in a bowl

Ingredients for Pasta in Tomato Cream Sauce –

  • Pasta – we used Linguini but most any pasta will do – penne, spaghetti or shells to name a few.
  • Tomato Sauce – canned store bought good quality.
  • Tomato Paste – this helps to deepen the tomato flavor.
  • Heavy Cream – we love the silky texture it gives the tomato sauce.
  • Onion – white or yellow.
  • Garlic
  • Oregano – dried or fresh
  • Grated Parmesan Cheese

With only a handful of ingredients, this Pasta with Tomato Cream Sauce  recipe is one you will keep around for awhile.

Saute some onions and garlic in a little butter and olive oil.  Toss in the tomato sauce, let it cook down a bit…then add the cream.  Do this while the pasta is cooking and you will have a fabulous pasta meal in about 25 minutes or less.

This pasta sauce with heavy cream is so silky and flavorful with very little effort!

Once you have a nice thick sauce, simply drain the pasta and add to the  sauce.  Give a couple good stirs and dinner is on the table in no time.

It is that simple.  Garnish with a bit of grated parmesan cheese and you have a simple pasta dinner!

This is so good and so easy. I had been making a pink pasta sauce using a can of diced tomatoes and throwing it in the blender. No more – this is going to be my go to sauce from now on! I halved the recipe since its only my husband and me and it still works! One of those recipes you wish you had years ago!

This pasta looks so creamy. I would totally add fresh tomatoes to give a little texture.

Can we use other kind of cheese ? Like cheddar or mozzarella? Bcoz it’s rare to find parmesan in my place

Hi Roshni – do you have access to feta? That would make a nice creamy sauce. Cheddar would be my second choice. Mozzarella is stringy and it gets solid pretty fast as it warms up. Hope that helps a little:).

I made this tonight for dinner with grilled chicken. We had cheese and chicken raviolis and spinach raviolis. The sauce is Devine, our grandchildren loved it. Will make again. Do you think I could substitute half and half for the heavy cream? Just to cut down on calories. The kids said it tasted just like Carrabbas.

So glad you loved it! Using half and half will change the consistency and it won’t be as rich but yes, you can save about 250 calories which equates to about 62 calories a serving. I’ll keep the cream :).

    Hi,
I live in Australia and just wondering what you class as tomato sauce? I’m assuming it’s not what we know as tomato sauce, is it tomato paste, tomato soup or passata type sauce?

    Thanks

Tomato Sauce in the U.S. is more like passata.

Made this for dinner tonight and it was excellent! Very rich, creamy and comforting. It was extremely easy too, yet it tasted like it was a lot more work than it was.

I was looking for a good creamy sauce to recreate my husband’s favorite dish from a local restaurant, lobster diablo. I think this will fit perfectly once I add red pepper flakes and steamed lobster at the end.

So good, thank you so much!

PS this is better than Marcella Hazan’s tomato cream sauce and I love her recipes.
