Apple Fritter Bread! – Chunks of apples in a cinnamon batter that is amazingly easy to make! Topped with more apples and a delicate glaze reminiscent of those fried apple donut fritters we all love!
Let’s just talk about what your kitchen will smell like when this is baking. That alone would sell me on this beatiful loaf cake! Smells like Fall, leaves, cinnamon and sweet…all the things we love this time of year!
Ingredients to make Apple Fritter Bread
- Apples – Granny Smiths hold up great in this bread but there really isn’t a bad apple in the bunch. Use what you have.
- butter
- milk
- flour
- brown sugar
- white sugar
- cinnamon
- baking powder
- vanilla
- confectioners sugar for glaze

- Start by peeling the apples and dicing into large chunks. We wanna taste that apple!
- In a small seperate bowl make your brown sugar topping, set aside.
- Mix up the batter and toss in HALF the apple chunks. Top with remaining apples and sprinkle on the brown sugar cinnamon. Pretty easy so far!
In the oven it goes for about 50 minutes. Get ready for a smell invasion! There is nothing quite like the scent of an apple cake baking in the oven. Imagine this apple loaf cake for breakfast with a steaming cup of coffee!
We drizzle on the icing using using a fork. The tines of the fork make the perfect drizzle!
How to store Apple Fritter Bread
- Wrap tightly and keep at room temperature for about 3 days then move to refrigerator for 2 more days.
- If you have any left, this freezes beautifully in a freezer bag for up to 3 months. Thaw at room temperature.

Apple Fritter Bread
Ingredients
For topping
- 1/3 cup brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
For cake
- 2 cups apples - cored, peeled and diced into large chunks. About two apples.
- 2 tablespoons white sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 cup butter - room temperature
- 1/2 cup white sugar
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 1/2 cups all purpose white flour
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 cup milk - any fat content as well as any nut butter will work
For icing
- 1 cup confectioners sugar
- 1-3 tablespoons milk, cream for half and half
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350 degreees. Spray a 9 x 5 inch loaf pan with non stick spray.
- Combine topping ingredients in a small bowl and set aside.
- Core, peel and dice apples. Toss with 2 tablespoons white sugar and 1 teaspoon cinnamon. Set aside.
- In mixing bowl combine butter, white and brown sugar, eggs and vanilla until well blended. (you can do this by hand or with an electric mixer). Add flour, baking powder and milk. Mix until a thick batter is formed.
- Fold in HALF of the diced apples into the batter. Pour into prepared loaf pan. Top with remaining half of the apples. Gently press apple chunks into the batter.
- Sprinkle with cinnamon and brown sugar mixture.
- Bake for approximately 50 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the middle comes out clean.
- Cool for 10 minutes and remove from pan. Combine confectioners sugar and milk adding one tablespoon of milk at a time until desired consistency is reached. Using a fork, drizzle on the glaze. Serve warm with whipped topping or ice cream if desired.
