When it comes to ground beef vs. ground chicken, chicken always wins around here! Nothing against beef, we all love it but it can be heavy. Ground chicken is a great substitute for ground beef if your looking for a lighter meal.
Ingredients for Ground Chicken Chili –
- ground chicken – we prefer 93/7 rather than ground chicken breast which can be very dry.
- beans – we opted for kidney beans for this recipe but black, cannelli or even garbanzo will work.
- tomatoes – we used tomato paste to make it thick and crushed tomatoes for a hearty consistency.
- peppers – we used poblano for a little heat but feel free to substitute any color bell pepper for no heat. Or go big heat with an added diced jalapeno pepper!
- onion and garlic
- brown sugar – just 2 tablespoons, love the slight sweetness
- chicken broth
- cumin and chili powder
The entire process for this chili is around 30 minutes start to finish and that includes 10 minutes of simmering so we are talking super fast easy chili!
Simply brown your ground chicken and veggies, add in the remaining ingredients, simmer and serve!
