Easy Lemon Dill Sauce is a yogurt based sauce that doubles as a dip, and pairs great with fish and chicken! This recipe only takes about 3 minutes to make from start to finish, and packs big flavor. Fresh dill, zesty lemon, garlic, yogurt and little dash of mayonnaise make for a restaurant quality dip!

Lemon Dill Sauce Recipe

This is a recipe we’ve been making in our own home kitchen for years. It’s actually a sauce we used with one of our most popular recipes, Salmon with Dill Sauce. We love the sauce so much it needed its own standalone recipe!

Ingredients:

  • Greek Yogurt: I use 0% Fage. It’s my go to!
  • Mayonnaise: The mayonnaise adds a touch of fat and helps smooth out the sauce. You can skip this if you prefer, which will result in a tangier, thicker sauce.
  • Dill: Fresh chopped is best for flavor. Dehydrated will work in a pinch.
  • Lemon Zest: 1 large lemon yields about 1 tbsp of zest.
  • Lemon Juice: Fresh is best.
  • Granulated Garlic: I use granulated because it disperses well in sauce. You can use fresh. I caution against using jarred garlic because it can be overpowering and the flavor is not always bright.
  • Salt & Pepper: I always advise using to taste and adding slowly. You can always add, but you can’t take away!

After combining the ingredients, simply mix it with a fork until smooth. I encourage taste testing with any sauce (use a clean spoon each time you taste test if you’re serving this to guests).

This sauce keeps in the fridge for up to 5 days in an airtight container (like a Tupperware container).

What to Serve with Dill Sauce

This is a great sauce for Spring and Summer and it doubles as a dip for vegetables. I love this served on a crudite platter, and especially with sliced red bell peppers. Something about the crunchiness of the bell pepper with its sweet flavor is so delicious with the tangy, savory dill sauce.

As far as protein goes, yogurt lemon dill sauce pairs great with light, fresh, flavors. Here’s my favorite main courses to pair with it!

  • Easy Mahi Mahi
  • Baked Salmon
  • Grilled Shrimp
  • Grilled Swordfish
  • Grilled Chicken Thighs
