I love this recipe for how easy it is, and how light we’ve made it! These Baked Wonton Crab Rangoon Appetizers are so simple to make, you can make a few of them for a yummy snack, or lots of them to feed a crowd. Drizzle with some sweet Thai chili sauce and some green onions for flavor and color. You will love these!

Baked Crab Rangoon Recipe

Crab Rangoons are a creamy mixture of crab (imitation or real) with cream cheese, a few spices, and stuffed inside a shell (usually a wonton wrapper).

We mix up the traditional recipe-which is usually fried- by spraying the wonton with some cooking spray and baking them. The result is a crispy shell, with a soft, creamy crab interior. Delicious for an appetizer or a snack!

Air Fryer Directions: You can also air fry these. Simply follow the same directions, and air fry at 350 for 10 minutes, or until crispy.

How to Fold Baked Wontons

Make the crab mixture, and then use a small scooper or spoonful. I like to use a sheet pan with parchment paper to prevent sticking. You can fold them a few different ways, I like to pinch them around the sides so the crab comes out the opening a little bit. It browns up nicely in the oven.

  • If you want to fold the wontons fancy, here’s a great video with some fun tips.
  • Once the wontons are folded, spray them with cooking spray, and bake them for about 15-20 minutes.

Serving Crab Wonton Appetizers

I love to serve crab Rangoons with Thai sweet chili sauce, but they’re also really good with teriyaki sauce, or sesame dressing. If you are not a fan of crab, you could make these cream cheese wontons.

If you love wonton appetizers as much as we do, here’s a few more you’ll like:

Equipment

  • 1 18x26 inch sheet pan
  • parchment paper

Ingredients

  • 2 cups imitation crab (chopped)
  • 1/2 cup whipped cream cheese (or Greek cream cheese)
  • 1/2 tsp granulated garlic
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp pepper
  • 24 wonton wrappers

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 375 degrees fahrenheit. Prepare a sheet pan with parchment paper. Fill a small condiment bowl with water. Set aside.
  • In a small bowl, combine crab, cream cheese, granulated garlic, salt, and pepper. Mix well until fully incorporated.
  • Add about 1 tablespoon of crab filling to the center of a wonton. Dip finger in the condiment bowl full of water, and then drag your finger around the wonton (the water will help seal the edges). Fold as desired.
  • Spray stuffed wontons with cooking spray. Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown.
  • Allow to cool for about 5 minutes before serving. Serve as desired (we like ours with Thai chili sauce).
