This Easy Air Fryer Chicken Wing Recipe has a secret ingredient that makes them extra crispy!  A quick and easy rub that includes spices and…

Crispy Chicken Wings

Baking powder!  (NOT BAKING SODA.  THEY ARE NOT INTERCHANGEABLE)

How does Baking Powder make Air Fryer Wings extra crispy?

  • It’s pretty basic.   The baking powder dries them out.  The dryer your wings, the crispier they get!

How to make Chicken Wings in the Air Fryer –

We mixed up garlic powder, chili powder and a teaspoon of smoked paprika, salt, pepper and the secret ingredient, Baking Powder.  You can tell when you rub this onto the wings that  that the texture is drier.

How long do chicken wings cook in the Air Fryer?

  • 20 minutes at 400 degrees, turning after 10 minutes made the perfect wings for us!  If you have larger wings, cook for another 5 minutes or so until as crispy as you like it.
  • Check out the parchment paper air fyer liners!  They are fabulous!  WARNING:   Do not put the liner in the air fryer during the preheat.  Why?  Because the fan will suck it up to the hot element and your kitchen will be full of smoke!   How do I know this…take a guess. ADD THE PARCHMENT WHEN ADDING THE FOOD.  THE FOOD WILL KEEP IT WEIGHED DOWN.

What is the best Air Fryer?

  • Without a doubt the COSORI gets the best reviews.  But more important is basket size.  You need a 9″ basket to really do any kind of decent cooking.  Everyone I know who has purchased a 6″ basket size air fryer has put it away because it just doesn’t hold enough!

Can I bake these in a regular oven?

  • Yes! It will take 45-60 minutes to get these nice and crispy but yes, you can.  400 degrees on a lined baking sheet.

Easily double or triple this recipe.  The more wings the better!

I don’t have an air frying yet but have been thinking of getting one for some time with the one you have a link to being on my wish list on amazon as it seems to have garnered the most ratings.
I’m wondering though, will the air fryer actually only hold 12 pieces of wing, as that would be only 3 wings for 4 people that the recipe serving size amount states on your recipe.

You’ll laugh at this but there’s only 2 of us and when I do wings on a cookie rack atop a sheet pan in my oven, I do a minimum of 2 pounds as my dear spouse loves his chicken wings. I only make low fat low carb style wings in my oven and served with low fat low carb dipping sauce on the side as spouse is diabetic but it’s the time wings take in the oven that has had me thinking about buying an air fryer that would cut that oven time down quite a bit.
That aside though.. As said, my main concern/question would be, is the amount of wings the air fryer you use only able to accommodate 12 wings at a time as it’s now left me wondering about paying so much money ( being on a seniors pension) for one.
    Thank you.
    Take care
    Stay well

Hi Jocelyn – I would say that yes, the large basket (9″) fryer would hold only about a pound of wings. You want some room around them for the air to flow. Might hold 15 but never 2 pounds. I totally get the wing thing! My husband and I gobbled down 12 of them in no time!
