Bang Bang Salmon! – Tender salmon fillets oven baked or Air Fried and topped with the delicious sauce we all love! A perfect weeknight meal done in minutes but fancy enough for company!
We are orginally from the Pacific Northwest and Salmon is a staple around here. Our number one recipe is Perfect Oven Baked Salmon and second is Salmon with Dill Sauce.
We make some kind of salmon dish at least one if not two times a week. It’s so versatile and healthy. Truly the perfect protein.
Ingredients for Bang Bang Salmon –
- Salmon Fillets – use what you love best. We are fans of Atlantic Salmon, yes it’s farmed not wild caught but after some research we feel very good about it. Use you fave, any will do!
- paprika, garlic powder, salt and pepper
- For the Sauce : mayonnaise (or greek yogurt), Sweet Thai Chili Sauce, Hot Sauce, Honey
Thats not much more than a handful of ingredients!
Start by seasoning the fillets.
Now mix up that sauce! – we use this for everything from chicken to shrimp!
You can adjust the heat by adding more or less of the hot sauce.
Mayo or greek yogurt is the base. You can usually find me with the spoon in the yogurt as I like the tang and the reduced fat but either are great.
Smear (I love that word)…smearrrrr a little sauce on each fillet before cooking. This adds a nice richness to the salmon.
NOTE: remove about a quarter cup of the sauce to a seperate bowl so you do not contaminate the rest of the sauce by double dipping, as you will be using that as a condiment as well.
Cooking Technique – Bake or Air Fry
Oven Bake
- Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Bake for 15 minutes, or until thickest part of salmon is 135 degrees Fahrenheit, keeping an eye on salmon temperature to ensure it does not overcook. Remove from oven at 135 -140 degrees farenheit, allowing salmon to rest and come up to 145 degrees Fahrenheit
Air Fry
- Preheat air fryer to 400 degrees fahrenheit.
- Spray air fryer basket or tray with nonstick spray.
- Place salmon in air fryer basket and air fry for 12-13 minutes, or until salmon reaches at least 140 degrees fahrenheit (the air fryer does not require as much time as the oven so you’ll want it to be about 140 degrees when its removed so it can reach 145 degrees fahrenheit easily).
Now your salmon is cooked up perfectly…time to serve!
How to serve Bang Bang Salmon –
- Serve with the sauce of course and lot’s of it. We love condiments!
- Drizzle on the sauce leaving more on the table to dippity dip!
- A side of rice or potatoes and a green vegetable make a nice addition.
PRO TIP: Use chilled leftovers for a delicous salmon salad!
Store the salmon in a sealed container for up to two days. Freeze for up to 3 months.

Instructions

- Combine all ingredients for bang bang sauce in a small bowl. Set aside.
- Pat dry salmon fillets with a paper towel. Sprinkle with paprika, garlic powder, salt and pepper.

- Drizzle remaining sauce over salmon and serve!
